Reflection 4: Great Expectations—How to Fix the Movie-Going Experience
Ask most Americans and you’re likely to hear that the movie-going experience has been on the decline for a number of years. They'll tell you increasingly-high ticket prices, antisocial behavior from audiences, too many pre-show commercials, and overly-expensive concessions have erased much of the magic that was once going to the movies.
And that was before COVID-19.
The post-pandemic audience experience has only exacerbated much of what people disliked about going to the movies. Attendance numbers have yet to reach pre-pandemic levels, and audience dissatisfaction remains high.
How would you fix today’s movie-going experience? In your opinion, what are the biggest factors leading to a dissatisfying time at the movie theater? And what should be done to address these issues?
